SEPANG International Circuit was host to this year's 1st MAM RallySprint. GSR PENNZOIL RACING TEAM was represented by team owner Gunaseelan Rajoo as the lead driver, while Mohd Shazly( winner class 1000cc) and Kenneth Koh( winner of the junior class) were the other 2 nominated drivers for the team award. It was a hot sunny weather at Sepang as all rally crew got going. Guna, in a Mitsubishi Evo 9, grabbed the lead from the very beginning of the rally itself, without ever losing the lead at all throughout the rally. He won 8 out of total of 10 stages. According to Guna, "The stages were quite challenging. As all were short stages, there was no room for mistakes. Thankfully, the condition of the stages were smooth, as such not damaging to the cars. It was important for us to win this event as this was the first rally for 2009. I found the rally well organized, and was pleased to see many newcomers. The RallySprint also saw the birth of the GSR PENNZOIL JUNIOR RACING TEAM, with 3 drivers who were chosen based on last year's Rally X series. They were Sallehudin, A.Magendran and Kiren. This Junior team performed very well, clocking top 3 times in their respective classes consistently.
